Viaje
The Boston Landmarks Orchestra conducted a series of demonstrations at summer camps and music programs at schools in several Boston neighborhoods in conjunction with its newly commissioned piece, Viaje by Gonzalo Grau. Youngsters who attended the demonstrations gained a multifaceted educational experience, by interacting with our musicians and learning about their instruments. Grau's piece uses the traditional rhythms of several Caribbean nations to create dance music that encompasses two musical worlds: the symphony orchestra and a salsa band. During the demonstrations, audiences followed along with the piece’s musical journey using a detailed map showing each of the countries.
